Golden Elixirs: Exploring the Wonders of Turmeric Tea and Milk


Turmeric has been put to use as a foodstuff, cosmetic, and medicine. It is widely used as a spice in South Asian and Middle Eastern cooking. It lends curry its distinctive yellow color and flavor. It is used as a coloring agent in cheese, butter, and other foods

Turmeric, used in cooking and in home remedies, has significant antioxidant abilities at different levels of action. Studies indicate that sufficient levels of turmeric may be consumed from curries in vivo to ensure adequate antioxidant protection.

Recipes:

Turmeric Tea:

A person can brew turmeric tea using pure turmeric powder or grated or ground, dried turmeric.

Fermented turmeric preparations, commonly sold as tea products, claim to have higher concentrations of biologically available, or absorbable, curcumin.

Ingredients:

1 cup of water or milk

1 tsp of turmeric

1 tsp of cinnamon

1 tbsp of honey

1/2 tsp of black pepper

Directions:

Bring water or milk to a boil.

Add the other ingredients to the boiling liquid.

Steep for 10–15 minutes.

After completing these steps, a person may want to strain the tea into a container and allow it to cool before drinking.


Turmeric milk / Golden milk:

INGREDIENTS

1 cup milk

1/4 tsp turmeric powder or fresh turmeric

1/4 tsp or less ground black pepper

1 tsp honey/ brown sugar/ sweetener of your preference

A pinch of cinnamon (optional)

Pour milk in a saucepan, add turmeric powder or crushed fresh turmeric and ground black pepper and bring to a boil. Go easy on the pepper, it can be too overwhelming for some. However, black pepper is the magic ingredient that helps in the absorption of curcumin, the main chemical compound in turmeric. when a sore throat and it is really soothing. Once the milk has boiled, take the saucepan off the heat. If you wish to, strain the milk (I strain it only if I have used fresh turmeric), add sugar of your choice, sprinkle some cinnamon on top and enjoy hot.
